About Me

My photo
I would classify myself as an artist. It took me a while to finally accept that monicker, but that's what I am; AN ARTIST!!! I have a wonderful hubs that supports my "talents" in most all avenues, except maybe when the credit card bill comes in the mail...LOL And I have 4 great kids and 5 beautiful grandchildren that I love to pieces. Come on by and sit a spell and "STAMP 'TIL YA CRAMP!!! & "CROP 'TIL YA DROP!!!"

You wanna "LEI" ....

Bwahahahahaha, hope you get the title.....
I was once again playing around in my studio and it came to me like a coconut hitting me on the head...bwahahahahaha. I saw the glitter dots that I made and I thought that they were the perfect size to fit Hanna like a coconut bra.... I colored them using a brown sharpie and wallaaaa....coconut bra!!! And a bra with a little bling too, you can see the glitter thru the sharpir coloring. Then I had colored Hanna using color pencils, gamsol and a stump. My next thought was "what am I going to use for a grass skirt?" , so after a few minutes of scrounging around and mumbling to myself, I found it, some twine that was already green...SCORE!!!! The palm tree was easy, I still have the old school red Sizzix machine and this palm tree die(and of course many other dies). I then colored the palm leaves with my pencils and cut out an extra coconut to make it stand out. The background was made using my SU pastels (wanted it to look like the setting sun).....and the faux sand is torn paper and the sign was my stab at faux wood. The lei was made with the same twine and punched 'tiny' flowers, as well as her hair adornment. I laugh at myself sometimes....does that make me crazy or just a fun person to be around.....I guess it all depends on the company present at the time....bwahahahahahaha!!! As you can tell I have way too much fun doing what I do, my 'other half ' says I have way too much time on my hands..... My response to him is always the same....."I could be doing a whole lot worse other things!!!!" Ok enough gabbing for today....until later...TFL
Ooppsss!!! Almost forgot...
Tip for the day: When coloring black hair, as in jet black, you need to add a base of blue first. I know that sounds crazy, but it works. Otherwise when you blend it out you will have hair that looks more grey than black. Trust me, try it out and see for yourself, do 2 samples...one w/blue, and another one w/o blue, compare.... surprised??? Yeah a lot of people are.... Oh, and when doing brown, for a deeper, richer brown, use a red tone first.....you'll see!!!
I worked at Six Flags over Georgia when I was sixteen doing pastel portraits and that is how we were taught to do it. Later!!!!

OK I am in AWE and you can totally just sent this little yummy chicca to me. I love her, o being from Hawaii has nothing to do with it. Second, I am so excited that you told me about the blue thing. I just posted a crazy card the other day and the girl has very strange hair. I like it but can't wait to try it again.

Ok Crystal, you may be the last person without a cricut, but i DO NOT have any kind of big shot or sizzix. and I'm dying to use all those cool beans spellbinders dies. I wonder if I bought the dies and used my rolling pin? i never use that for anything anyway..hmmm. i love this card, it's just so great! all the technique! i have to read your blog again, to learn!
