About Me

My photo
I would classify myself as an artist. It took me a while to finally accept that monicker, but that's what I am; AN ARTIST!!! I have a wonderful hubs that supports my "talents" in most all avenues, except maybe when the credit card bill comes in the mail...LOL And I have 4 great kids and 5 beautiful grandchildren that I love to pieces. Come on by and sit a spell and "STAMP 'TIL YA CRAMP!!! & "CROP 'TIL YA DROP!!!"

Well, no stamping today.... my honey decided to start remodeling, yep, and right after christmas no less.....

Today, we are remodeling the bathrooms, painting both, one will get new linoleum and the other new tile flooring. He wants to get it done NOW.... LOL

He's on his way to Home Depot as I'm writing this..... I just got over a virus and haven't eaten in two days (couldn't) and now I will be helping with the bathrooms, go figure.....

Oh well, I guess it could be worse, I could still be bedridden like I was christmas day.

Hope everyone is still enjoying their families and the holidays....

Good Morning....

Well, today I don't foresee me getting into the studio. My family will be over today to exchange gifts and I still have to finish cleaning and then start cooking. I'm itching to do a card today, but I just don't think I will be able to squeeze it in....but you can never tell.....LOL

Jeff went shopping again this morning...he still thinks there isnt enough presents around the tree. And he gave me a budget....bwahahahaha!!! He tries to be a hard nose, but deep down he's nothing but a big marshmallow.

If I don't get to get back on here, I wish everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday.... and I hope you get what you want and deserve.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!!!!

Christmas is around the corner....

This is what we have been doing today....first we finished up the shopping today then we made chocolate covered marshmallows ...yummy!!!

This is my baby girl standing by our tree, the presents are overflowing. My fiance' said that he is going tomorrow to buy more, according to him there isn't enough presents.... He is very special.

Now we have to bake cookies....I have to go, she's getting very antsy and is telling me to hurry up already...LOL

Kids, gotta love 'em.

Funny thing to try....

Go to "google" and type your name and then the word needs (ie: Crystal needs) and list the first 10 things that appear, its pretty crazy and funny.
Here is what showed up when I did it... (I've added my own comments too!!!)

1. Crystal needs lots of LOVE (does she ever...LOL)
2. Crystal needs concrete directions (wow, must mean I'm going on a trip)
3. Crystal just needs 6-8 inches of snow (Good thing it didnt say 65", then it would be over my head)
4. Crystal needs to be coated(????hummmm...now that could be interesting???)
5. Crystal needs some describing (YES, all my family and friends would agree!)
6. Crystal needs a Home (NO, I pretty happy just where I am)
7. Crystal needs improvement (yeah, but who doesn't...LOL)
8. Crystal needs marble (I'm hardheaded enough already)
9. Crystal needs to tone it down a bit (now what fun is that)
and the last one is....drum roll please...
10. Crystal needs a GOOD HOME FOR CHRISTMAS...(Santa, explain GOOD..LMAO)

Everyone should give this a try...its pretty hilarious!!!!

Todays adventures in paper....

I made this one for my other half....

He LOVES the color blue, and he brings such JOY to everyone here...

He probably won't even realize how much time I spent on the card at all... He will open it and read the inscription and say "Thank you, honey" , but thats all a person really needs anyway right, a simple thank you mean more than a lot of people know.
(Sorry, pic is a little blurry, but I didn't take the pic until it got dark outside)

Keep looking, my niece and I were very busy today...

We made 20, yep I said 20 different packages of 'card candy' today.... and only 2 packages are exactly the same.
I still need to label them, but we had a blast and we giggled a lot. Its a wonder we get anything done really!!!

Finally Friday...

WOW...so glad that its Friday!! School is out for holiday vacation....which means I don't have to work...YIPPEE!!!

Well, today we got home early because they pretty much had nothing but parties going on the rest of the day, so we skipped out and came home....

I had a project to start on anyway and the above picture should explain it all. One of my nieces contacted me and said that she needed a baby blanket for someone and I can usually crochet one up pretty quick, so here I am crocheting like a maniac...LOL Can ya guess??? Boy or Girl??? Pretty obvious, huh??? But I should have it done before the weekend.
So, card making is being put on the back burner just for today. But I plan on getting back in my studio tomorrow...and I will post one then.
Happy Friday!!!!

Money holders...

I made these today for my older children...we always give them money. Then they can buy what they want...LOL...not what I want them to have.

Instructions:

Black cardstock: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 (you can get 2 out of one piece of cardstock)

Score at 2-1/2 (makes top flap) , and 5-1/2

On bottom flap insert curly label punch as far as it will go and center it, and punch out window

Then use adhesive on side of flap and fold up to make pocket.

DSP measures 2-1/4 x 8-1/4, add ribbon to DSP, then attach to top flap
Use any stamp you desire, I used the Merry Christmas one from the Curly label set and punched it out and attached with dimentionals.
Easy Peasy, mac 'n cheesy!!!!

Christmas banner...

I made this banner for a contest/challenge for Paper Craft Planet....using scraps and various embelishments.
The top picture is how the banner started out...a few cardboard coasters that I picked up in a clearance bin somewhere. The stuff that I buy...LOL But I guess I did put them to good use after all...we'll see if its a winner soon enough.
Wish me luck...

Blessed....

This is a card that I made for my "upline" Angie....she has always been very helpful when ever I have a question.

Ok, now I'm sitting here at my desk wearing a t-shirt and the doors are open and its a balmy 66 degrees and muggy.... I thought spring/summer wasn't to get here for a few more months. I can't believe that its this """HOT""" and """MUGGY""" don't get me wrong I can do warm weather much better than I can do cold, but muggy???? And don't get me started on the "flashes"...you know which ones I'm talking about. LOL

Well, enough dissing the weather....I should just be glad and move on....and feel 'BLESSED' as my card states....

Thanks for looking!!!

WOW...Christmas is sneaking up....

Wow, again!!! Can you believe its almost Christmas, I can't. But I do have all the shopping done, or I should say my other half has it done. He loves shopping at christmas, yeah I know... I check him for a fever every year. He even went out on black friday this year and stood in line to get some things at 3 am no less. He's freakin' awesome. OK, now on to more important things....I'm going to try very hard to post more cards. I have been slacking badly. So bye for now and see ya on Wednesday.

Hope you enjoy the card.... I know I have missed quite a few of the 12 Days of Christmas, but what would I do with 12 drummers and leaping lords....OH MY!!!

Moody Monday....

Well, I had jury duty today and I have to go back again tomorrow. Why can't they at least furnish a cushion for the spectators in a court room. I know they don't want the defendents getting too comfy in there, but us poor citizens trying to do a good deed and make an informed decision about someones life should have a comfy place to put our tush instead of squirming in our chair trying to find the sweet spot that isnt tingling from being asleep.
But, I will be in there again tomorrow squirming in my seat and trying to focus on the issue at hand. Wish me luck.....maybe I can take some paper and do some teabag folding while I'm there...huummmm...its worth a try!!!!

Catcha later!!!!

My blog Title???

A lot of you may be wondering where the name "The Rustic Daisy" came from.....
Well here goes...its very simple actually.....

I love, love, love Daisies....(shasta daisies....white petals w/ yellow centers)
and I'm getting old and "rusty" Oh and did I say, I LOVE daisies!!!! LOL So thats how I came upon the name.

Told ya it was very simple....

Happy Hump Day and post Election Day!!!

I don't know about you, but I'm sick of hearing pre-election guesses, election updates and now post election 'stuff' ....let's just move on and go with the flow. I mean, would you like to have to run the country for any length of time...NOT ME!!!!

So, now we are moving on, just as we always will....God willing!!!

Now on to bigger and better things....LOL I will soon start posting a card of the week (including directions, supplies, etc.) Keep your fingers crossed that I can accomplish that on a weekly basis.

Things I Love......;)

This is a table I made for our
front porch...hubby was always
looking for a place to put his
drink while sitting on the swing.

This is a coat rack that I
made using the actual door
knobs from a door we had
changed.

These are some signs/
decor I made using old scraps
of wood.

This is a candy dish I made for
Harlee's teacher
(hence the school mascot).

And the girlie decor are bits
and pieces that I picked up
from everywhere and
painted to match.

The Rustic Daisy

Hi everyone and welcome!!!

This is a first for me so bear with me while I learn how to do this.

First, a little about me, I have loved arts and crafts as long as I can remember. I remember watching my maternal grandmother glueing elbow macaroni to high heel shoes and then spray painting them gold and she also glued sweet gum balls onto styrofoam cones and sprayed them gold to look like christmas trees. And she made this kitchy container, she used a metal coffee can and then she would roll up paper from old magazines (the colorful ads actually) and then she would glue the paper tubes vertically onto the can, then she would take wire and cut it into short lenghts to insert into the top of the tubes for a scalloped effect. She was always doing something like that, and I loved to watch her do it, and the occasional rolling of paper she allowed me to do.
So you see, I love any type of arts and crafts, myself....I paint with acrylics on anything that doesn't move, I crochet, knit, sew, scrapbook, make cards, woodworking, anything and just about everything. I eat, sleep and breathe it. So, sit back and enjoy what I enjoy!!!!
