About Me

My photo
I would classify myself as an artist. It took me a while to finally accept that monicker, but that's what I am; AN ARTIST!!! I have a wonderful hubs that supports my "talents" in most all avenues, except maybe when the credit card bill comes in the mail...LOL And I have 4 great kids and 5 beautiful grandchildren that I love to pieces. Frosty the Snowman...

Is a fairytale they say.....He was made of snow.....
But the children know.....How he came to life one day

I first want to thanks Stef @ Glitterbabe's challenge blog for allowing me to become one to the new Design Team members....  I have known and followed Stef on her regular blog for quite a while(Glitterbabe Greetings)and love her to pieces. This is my first creation as a DT member....this week's challenge is to have embossing on the card and its also being sponsored by Ellephantastic ...isn't that fanastic!!!!  Sorry, couldn't help myself....Bwahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Anyhooooo, isn't this the cutest snowman.  By his physique; I'd say he's had one too many snowballs to eat.  The birdie is taking advantage of the slowness of this chunky fellow by building a nest in his hat.
Don't be frozen in your steps; get on over to the challenge and try your hand at a sparkling creation. Yep, sparkling.....'cause you have to have something sparkly, shiny, bling-y on every challenge. They don't call her Glitterbabe for nothing.

Tut..tut........

No, that isn't the sound of a train coming at ya.
It's me with another tutorial video.  I'm chugging right along making videos.  I'm actually starting to love doing them.
I have been drooling over all the wrinkled seam binding I have seen on other blogs.  It's gorgeous!!!!

So, you know I had to try my hand at it.......
Love it!!!!!

After you watch the video, below will be a list of the supplies and if you have any questions, please ask and I will give you all the help I possibly can!!!!
Grab some popcorn and sit back and enjoy!!!!

I purchased my Hug Snug (oatmeal color) seam binding from an online store called Zipperstop.com for $7.95 for 100 yds., (thats about 8 cents a yd) but I found another online store (Sewtrue.com)that had some on clearance for $3.00 to $4.00 for 100 yds.(that's half the price); so I had to buy some from there too. But there was only a few colors to choose from at SewTrue.  But if you are going to be dyeing it then it really doesn't matter as long as its a light color, right?
The spray bottles were purchased at Wal-mart for 99 cents each.
Re-inkers; really depends on where you get them from; mine was from SU! and it was $4.95.
Acrylic paint can be less than a $1.00 a bottle....and you really only use a few drops.
Of course, freezer paper can be purchased just about any grocery store.
It's worth a try....super simple, but with fab results.
Heck if ya want........Zipperstop carries it in a train load of colors....you can buy all the colors you want and just spray with water to wrinkle it.

A 'banner' day.....

in Harlee's room.
Banners and pennants are huge this year. I have seen them everywhere.
I made these by hand; find the center on an 8-1/2" X 11" sheet of paper on the 8-1/2" side. I marked a dot with a pencil. Then I used my cutter and cut from the center mark to the top corner on the opposite end. (see below) Do this to both sides and you have a pennant.

The border was made using the treading water border punch; I just cut many, many borders from a couple of sheets of black and adhered them to the back of each pennant.
The letters were cut using my Expression with the Hannah Montana cart. The font is Daddy's girl cut at 5". I thought it looked most like retro/paris-y....LOL
Her room is a paris theme.  Tied on some ribbon and then used dimensionals to adhere it to the wall.  She loves it.

Something to crow about........

Everyone had things that they like to 'crow' about, whether its their family, their job, etc.......

When you add a comment; tell me something you like to 'crow' about.  I love hearing about others accomplishments, family; or you can tell me something you are thankful for.
Mine???  Well, I have a great family.  There are a few nuts on the branches; but all in all I love each of them very much....and really what is a family without the ones that make you thankful you are you!!!!!

This little 3 X 3 card was made from scraps on my table.  The newsprint is from SU! and I couldn't bear to throw any of it away.  The circle was a throw-away piece that I cut from another card and the green was a piece from a border. A little embossing and inking and I have a very nice gift tag, small thank you note.......etc.

So, I challenge each and everyone of you to create something from what is sitting on your table right now....yeah I know you are like me and there's something left there from the last project.
Link it below.

SEW ....it didn't work........ !!!!

I was trying to make the gorgeous crinkled seam binding ribbon that everyone is showing on their blogs lately.  I sew also, sew I went down to the studio and grabbed some supplies out of the sewing area.  I didn't have seam binding, sew I thought I would try hem tape and twill tape.  It was worth a shot, right?
Well the re-inker with the water DID dye the tapes, but the crinkling part didn't happen.  I even tried the heat gun hoping it would actually melt some of the fibers to create a sorta crinkled look. NOPE!!!! But I do have some great ribbons that have a tea-dye look.....Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Sew, I guess I will go to the store and try to find some seam binding.

She's a Black Magic Woman.............

Now that you have that song stuck in your head.....Bwahahahahahahaha!!!
I want to show you a stamping technique that is truly MAGIC!!!!!!
Is this not awesome or what !?!?!?!?!?!!?
As a stamper you know that it's almost impossible to stamp on dark color card stock, well no more.  A simple technique that will make you sing.....LOL.

Here's a close-up. You can see that I didn't cover up the stamped image completely.  But you still get the great colors.
It will be easier to see it live than to actually try to explain all the steps so here's a video from a fellow stamper and she will guide you thru the steps.
Enjoy and I hope you try this.  I will be using this one many, many times.

He looks at you with in that SPECIAL way........... {cue music}

The look only you understand......Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
   He's sick......!!!!!!!

You know how most men are, they sneeze one time and they are on the couch for a week.

I truly haven't had a cold in about 4 yrs.  {KNOCK ON WOOD}!!!  I'm so careful of what I touch and I wash my hands....NO, I dont have OCD.  I'm just more cautious now.
I use wipes on shopping carts and carry hand sanitizer.  Yes, I'm a substitute teacher..... With my hands folded behind my back; I nod my head towards the teachers desk and tell them to put their finished work there.  It works for me......LOL

This card was created using a stamp set from Stampin' Up! that I have wanted for a long time; it's called Pick a Petal (#115042). I wanted it just to make this card that I saw on Splitcoast stampers a few yrs ago.  Isn't it fun!!!!!
I love when you can re-purpose a set to make a variety of cards....and this is one of those sets. This card could also qualify for the challenge at Glitterbabe's challenge blog.  It's anything goes this week.....but you gotta have the glitter!!!!!!!!!

Munsters 'n da houze!!!!!!

Can't ya just hear the wind howling and the gate creaking.  The foot steps in the graveyard.

Ohhhhhh and don't forget the music !!!

This stair step card was created for Haunted Design House challenge......HORRIFIC HAUNTS !!!  I used the October 31st cartridge and Mini Monsters.

I could so live in this house.   Remember the old TV show; The Munsters.  I would have loved to have been on that show even as an actor.
I still try to find re-runs and watch them.  I wanted (and still do) a car like the Munsters drove.
Actually the ring tone on my phone is the Munsters theme music. You should see people look and try to figure out the tune when my phone goes off.  I've had strangers come up to me and ask me to play it again so they can figure it out.   Funny, because almost everyone figures it out eventually.   Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

I think this could be the Munsters abode.....don't you?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Grand Marshall's in da house..........

Harlee and I had the honor of being in the group chosen for this year's Grand Marshall at Roopville Homecoming Festival day parade.  Harlee's 5th grade class from last year designed a quilt to be painted and hung on one of the buildings in downtown Roopville.  Me and another parent helped with the painting.
Here we are in our green and white.

This is the quilt that was designed and painted by the class.  Harlee is on the right, on the left is her friend, Amber. Below is a dedication plaque that has all the kids names on it......and yes mine is on it too!!!!
Harlee's log cabin (Top row, second from left) as one of the designs chosen to be featured and Amber got to help

This will be something that they can tell their grandchildren one day!!!!

Fall is upon us......

....my fave time of year.
Another fave time is when I  receive new toys and  supplies from Stampin' Up!  I just got a haul a few days ago and the ideas are 'flying'......Bwahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Don't ya love the new 2-step bird punch (#117191)......it is so simple to use and what a statement for any creation.   I also used the new stamp set (clear) from the Holiday Mini catalog, French Foliage; and Oval All for the sentiment.

The papers I used are Basic gray CS, whisper white CS and one of the new in-colors; Peach Parfait DSP.
Some distressing with chocolate chip, border punch, oval punches and I got a fall-icious card that
anybirder would love......!!!

Eeeeekkkkkkk..........a mouse !!!!

Don't worry I have him contained.  Rat-ta-tooooooie under glass, any one?????
This one is super sweet!!!!

I just received my sweet treat cups (item # 116802) from Stampin' Up! and I couldn't wait to play with them.  I was in my studio looking for a treat to put in the cup when I glanced over at the stash I have already accumulated for my grands halloween treat bags.  I found these adorable gummy mice at the Dollar Tree.
So my mind started working like a mouse on a wheel and this is what I came up with.

I used melon mambo for the card base. I stamped the base with a stamp from French Foliage (#121166) to give it a sort of mousy/nasty look. I then layered whisper white and some basic gray that I used the scallop trim border punch (#118402) on the bottom edge.  I punched the hole for the treat cups with the 1-3/4" circle punch (#119850).  Sahara sand was used to make the trap...(punched out 1-3/4" hole and inked around edges. Word window punch was used to make the trap mechanism) and added a brad for the finishing touch. The wording is from the Totally Tool stamp set (#113256).

This was wayyyy too much fun to create.
To order any of the supplies listed...just  skitter on over to my website and you can order right from your computer while wearing your jammies and being quiet as a mouse !!!

House of Usher......

I'm such a horror movie buff......and there's is nothing like a great black and white oldie.

Vincent Price is one of my fav actors and he starred in the House of Usher...but alas it was in color in 1960.  Oh well, you can't have everything.......much like this challenge.  You can only have one color or shades of that color. It's a Monochromatic Monstrosities challenge at Haunted Design House.   The color choices are black/grey....green....orange...or purple.
I chose the black/grey version as you can see and I used a SU! set called House of Haunts.  I used Versamark and added black embossing powder.  I shook off the excess real hard in order to get a more distressed look. Added some inking with black, some black brads, and a small strip of paper that I crimped.
Make your color choice and create something monsterously magnificent!!!!!

I see my cup(s) as always FULL......

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha.....it seems the older I get the bigger they get....much to the delight to my hubster.

That was probably more than you needed or wanted to know.....LOL
I'm sure I'm not telling you something that you ladies don't already know.

OK, enough about me and my hubster.....the CARD !!!

This was created for Glitterbabe's challenge blog. This week it's a color challenge, you can only use red, yellow and purple.  Now, myself ...I don't really like purple at all, but for the sake of keeping it real I gotta bite the bullet and move onward.  Sounded like I was going into battle...didn't it????
I think I managed to pull off a decent card....despite the purple obstacle. There is a sentiment on the inside also:  "May your cups runneth over"
Anywho....... I know a lot of you LOVE purple and will really enjoy this challenge. OH, and don't forget the BLING!!!!!
So, see ya there...with or without wearing a bra!!!!!

God bless America.....

This is a repost of a scrapbook page I did a while back.  This is my dad; he served in WWII (Army) and took part of the Battle of Normandy.  He was overseas (as a very young man) for almost 5 yrs.  He told my brother once that when he saw the Statue of Liberty he fell to his knees on the ship's deck and cried because he didn't think he would ever see 'home' again.
This is one of my favorite pages I have done, ever!!!!!  I only wished that I had his medals/awards, but we had a house fire in 1969 and we lost everything.  But I recently found out that you can order repilcas ....not quite the same but close enough.

Moon over my...............

 tombstone ????
No, this isn't my real headstone, nor does it vaguely resemble it. YES, Jeff and I already have our plot and headstone in place.  I wanted the inscription on my side of the stone to read "She used to paint; but now she's a SAINT !"  It has a nice ring to it doesn't it?????  Bwahahahahahaha. But alas, it isn't on there YET.
Macabre or not, I love walking in a cemetary.  Nothing is more elegant than some of those beautiful headstones......right????  After all; it is out last say on this earthly plane, so make it your own.
I made this elegantly evil concoction for the challenge at Haunted Design House. Yes, that is the challenge.......to make something ELEGANTLY EVIL.
I used the October 31st cricut cart for the cut-outs of the tombstone and the candle. The moon was a
1-1/2" circle punch. Border at the bottom is a MS punch.
A lot of inking (white staz-on was used to make the misty clouds on the base) and a few strokes with a white gel pen and followed with a few dimensionals and {insert scary harpsichord music here}something elegantly evil!!!!

Reap what ya sew.....................

I love the Mini Monsters cricut cart.  It has the cutest 'monsters' on it.  Hey check out my grim reaper.  My daughter wants to be the grim reaper for halloween.  I like the fact that he doesnt want to dress cutesy for Halloween. Heck she dresses cutesy everyday going to school.  My sister is the same way, we go to a huge Halloween party every year held by a relative.....and every year my sister dresses cutesy, sexy, adorable .....WHATEVA!!!!!!  Halloween is supposed to involve dressing up and being something different, or at least thats my opinion.  Anyhooooo, this card I will give to my daughter for halloween and I designed it around a challenge (halloween) over at Cardz TV blog.  As I mentioned before I used the Mini Monsters cart and I also used a MS border punch.......a little ink, some sewing and BOOOOOOO!!!!!!

A Daddy's love......

These pics were taken in San Fran, CA as we were walking back to the hotel from the 4th of July festivities at a nearby park.  . I like to take pics when people don't notice it, I think you get REAL emotion. This is the love that I see from them both and it just gets stronger and stronger. As I was walking behind them I got a vision of a cartoon of two people that love each other and as the cartoon people walked, they were leaving behind a trail of flowers. Thats how this page was born. Funny the things you think of, HUH????   Bwahahahahahahaha
Deets of the LO.....
I started with the gray striped paper.  Then matted the pics with white CS.  I found an rainbow of CS http://planetsmilies.net/skipping-smiley-1902.gifthat I used flower punches and I punched a few out of vellum too.

This is one of my all time fav pages that I have done.  Not sure if
its the LO or really the subject matter.....LOL

Fall is in the air.........

I love to sit on my front porch swing and watch the birds when the weather cools down.  I know, I know....it really isn't fall colors you said.  Well, you need to 'swing' on over to Cricut Cardz challenge blog to see why. I'm a recent addition to DT (design team) and there is a 'nest full of ideas from the other DT members.   Yep, that's the challenge for this week. Fall card using no brown, orange, or yellow.  Who-da thunk it?????  This is what I came up with, the doily cut is from Cindy Loo cricut cart. and the leaves at the bottom were punched with a MS punch.  The wording is a dimensional sticker that was in my stash.  Don't 'leave' too soon, but get your 'limbs' to moving and see the great DT designs and submit one of your own before you 'fall' behind.

OK, here goes; the border was the freebie (isnt it awesome) then I went thru my scraps and found several DSP that I liked and whipped up this concoction.  I few little pushes on my drippy goo punch, a few googly eyes and this is what I came up with.
