About Me

My photo
I would classify myself as an artist. It took me a while to finally accept that monicker, but that's what I am; AN ARTIST!!! I have a wonderful hubs that supports my "talents" in most all avenues, except maybe when the credit card bill comes in the mail...LOL And I have 4 great kids and 5 beautiful grandchildren that I love to pieces. Blast from the past.....

I'm still re-couping from a bad cold and laryngitis....its been two weeks now and I'm very tired of not being able to talk.  Oh well......I guess it could be worse.
Bwahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

I probably have shown this one a couple of times already. So bear with me.  I'm so very proud of my daddy.  Of course this was before any of us kids were a twinkle in his eye, but we are still soooo proud of him.

I'm currently on a mission to get reproductions of his medals that he received during his service.  We had a house fire when I was 8 yrs old and everything was lost, including his medals.  Its been a long drawn out process so far, but I'm determined.
He was born and raised in the north Georgia mountains in a town called Talking Rock.  He lived in a cabin with a wood burning stove, no running water....you get the picture.  He was drafted into the army at 17 or 18 yrs of age.  Can you imagine this poor mountain boy getting on a large cruise ship and heading across the ocean to Normany, France.
I recently found out this was the ship that transported his battalion overseas.  The AQUITANIA.

He was in the 474th AAA Battalion.  Which means he was on the front line ground.  All those historical pictures you see of the unloading of the boats on the shores of Normandy, yep my daddy was among them.  I always look closely trying to get a glimpse of his face.
He was overseas for almost 5 years.  He once told us down to the second how long he was overseas and he thought he would never see home again.  When he was arriving home by boat (by way of New York) he saw the Statue of Liberty and he said he fell to his knees and cried.

He met our mama on his way home from New York.  He was transferring trains in Atlanta and she saw him among the other service men and she told her sister, that is the man I'm going to marry and well, she did.
Bwahahahahahahahahaha!!!
They settled in Atlanta and had 4 beautiful children, if I do say so myself....LOL
Of course, many beautiful grandkids, great grands and now great-greats and a few great-great-greats too!!!!
They are both gone now and we miss them dearly.
Now you see why this is my most favorite scrapbook page ever!!!!!!!

My hubs said this is his fave card ever......!!!!

One of my fave movies......

I love how this one looks so real.

This was a card I gave to my hubs this year, both he and our daughter loved this one.

I sent this one to my hubs for his birthday.

Hope you enjoyed this year long tour with me. It was actually kinda fun looking back and seeing all the difference kinds of techniques I have tried (some successful, some not).

Happy Anniversary to me.....

and my sweet Sugarbear!!!!

He was totally surprised to see that I had painted him a portrait of Booboo.  He has already hung it in his office.  We are planning on going to Longhorn's for our anniversary dinner tonight.  That was the place of our first date.....teehee!!!!

I love him so much and he sacrifices a lot so we are, more than, comfortable.
He works a full time job (mostly away from home) and he is currently working on his third college degree in order to get a better/different job in the same field to enable him to stay home more. He has a 4.0 GPA.  I'm so very proud of him!!!!!
Love ya to pieces.....SB!!!!

Swipe....swipe....swipe

My sister kept calling me and asking me where I was and when I would get there.  I'm usually early to help set everything up.  I kept telling her that I had to pick up something for the party....teehee! I surprised everyone at the party.  I picked Jeff up from the airport just a couple of hrs. before the party. He misses so many family gatherings and he is truly missed.

There's a family (inside) joke that I 'swipe' the numbers off my credit card on a regular basis.
So, at the family party they decided Jeff and I needed our picture taken with Santa with me holding a credit card.  It looks like Jeff is trying to take it away from me, huh???
Santa even thought it was funny.
Too late, christmas shopping is done....Jeffy!!!!
The Santa is my great-nephew, yep my great nephew. He did a fab job. The kids at the party thought he was really Santa. Well, maybe not Harlee.....Bwahahahahahahaha!!!  But she appeased me and sat on his lap so I could take a picture.  See Sydney in the pic also.  That's one of my nieces dog.  All the dogs were dressed to be santa's helpers.....LOL.

We had a great time as usual at the family gathering..... I truly LOVE my family!!!!!
We never bicker, argue, bitch, etc..... But you do need a thick skin because everyone; and I mean everyone will get gigged at least once during the night. (Gigged: made fun of, getting poked fun at, etc.....)  But that's how we roll.  Lots of love, laughter and FUN!!!!

Until later, extended family.........Gotta split.......TFL!!!!!!

Va va voom "Ginger" Bread

Isn't she gingi-licious!!!!!
I have so many of these paper mache containers on stand-by.  I buy them when they go on clearance after the holdays are over.  I still paint them on occasion for pressies.
This one I made using paper.  We have a family party saturday and I needed something cute to put the treats in I made the other day.....  posted HERE .

I traced the box onto a sheet of brown cardstock and cut just inside the line with a pair of scissors.
The white "frosting" was also cut the retro way......Bwahahahahaaha. I had to break out the decorative scissors.   See; our lights went out yesterday and stayed off for 2 hrs. (A policeman hit a light pole about a mile from our house...he OK though) I heard the loud boom seconds before the lights went out. So instead of sitting here twiddling my thumbs, I went old school. My Cricut was sitting there looking all sad at me.....
The skirt was a rectangle that I ran thru my crimper and hand pleated onto the box.
The treats are all inside and ready for Santa to hand out.

You know I couldn't leave well enough alone.....Bwahahahahahahaha!!!!

I'm sure one of my nephews will lift up her skirt so I put a little surprise under there.....
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

"Banner" year!!!!!

Me and my Sugarbear have had a "banner" year.....
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

We have been fortunate that he has a fab job that enables me to be a Stay at home mom.  I just wish he could be home more.  But it is what it is.  When I'm feeling blue, missing him or generally lonely for adult companionship; I think about all the military families that don't get to see their significant others for months at a time, sometimes years at a time.
So, the waiting isn't all that bad when I have a great guy coming home to me.  He is truly my best friend.  We talk all during the day, everyday!!!!

So on to the challenge..........
Cricut Cardz Challenge for this week is to make a christmas card with a 'banner'.

*The bear image is from Joys of the Season*

Christmas treats.......everyone!!!

Our family get-together is this saturday......  no presents, just lots of laughter.
I truly love my family.  I can say there has never been any spats, arguments, hurt feelings,
NO bitching etc.....  We all get along so well and we just laugh and laugh.  Our Daddy and Mama would be so proud.  Life is hard enough without all of that, don't ya think!!!!!
I made these treats for the kiddies that will be there.  One of my great-nephews will dress up as Santa and let the little ones tell him what they want for Christmas.  (Pics to follow on Sunday)

Deets on the Treats:

Topnote die was used and folded the long way.  Label was created using punches from SU! as well as the stamp set.  The strip of paper wrapped around the Hershey nuggets measures 1" X 3".  Cello bags I got from Hobby Lobby.

Super Easy to make.......!!!!!!!!

It's a colorblind christmas.....

This is the last Haunted Design House challenge for this year....
you really don't want to miss it....do you????

It's a Colorblind Christmas challenge...meaning, there is no red or green allowed
Don't you love his expression.  Of course there wasn't a bow on the end of the loose gauze.... I used a sharpie to draw him one.

He's looking a but unraveled (bwahahahahahahahahahahaha) and wishing someone would NEVER untie his bow.

Nuts about ya!!!!!!

This one is for my Sugarbear!!!!!

Cricut sent me a dvd to view for the new Imagine machine.  NO, they still haven't convinced me to buy this little beauty.  I {am nuts} about my Expression and have so much fun playing with it.  I am so{nuts} about it  that I bought Harlee a baby bug for Christmas when JoAnn's had them on sale black friday.  I think she will have a blast with it.  But, I still cannot justify the cost of the Imagine machine and the ink cartridges, etc.........
They must be NUTS!!!!!  Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
Along with the dvd was a freebie image....its the one you see on the card above.  The papers were a freebie too........ (I embossed one of the papers).
Cute huh????? But still no convincing on the machine....YET!!!!   LOL

Until later, nutso's like me..........Gotta split.........TFL!!!!

Thar's gold in them thar hills......

Check out the new technique video.
Then look on the side bar ----- to purchase some of the gold foil for yourself.
I will send 5 (4"X6") sheets between 2 pieces of cardboard for stability for only $1.00 which includes the shipping and handling. (Sorry, no international shipping..)
*Side note:  I tried Versamark and the sticky ink wasn't quite sticky enough.
None of the gold adhered to it no matter what I tried.

You may be asking...."Why didn't she try an iron?"   Well, I did and the results were awful....there was gold foil everywhere on the card stock. 'Cause as you see from the video; pressure will adhere it as well.

I loved playing with it and will be using it on various things later on.
Come one and give it a try....after all, it's only paper!!!!!
Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

It's snowing......

NOT!!!!
Well it is; but only in my snow globe card.

Glitterbabe's challenge for today is to make a christmas card using no red or green.......

Easy peasy........I saw a card similar to this one and I thought it was a great idea.  Who doesn't love a shaker card......?!?!?!?!?!?!

The string of lights is a Glitterbabe original and the best thing is - it was a freebie
Card Deets:
Using my Gypsy and the Joys of the Season cart. I found this great image for a snowglobe.  I cut it out several times and on one of the layers I found a circle image to insert in the middle to make the shaker part.  I also used the packaging from a cricut cart (plastic) to make the window.  Sort of looks like you are looking thru your window and seeing the lights hanging on the outside of the house and watching the snow fall.
Even my 11 yrs. old said it was a very beautiful card....she saw it sitting on my desk.  She sees all the cards and other crafty stuff I make and rarely says anything.  It truly is way more beautiful in real life.

Until later, snow ladies and men........Gotta split......TFL!!!!!

8 is great!!!!!

at Haunted Design House.
Yeah, that's what I said....Bwahahahahahaha.
But it's alot simpler than you think. Just make a card using 8 (eight) items ONLY.
Simple concept;  easy to do??????
I thought so to; until I got started. EVERYTHING counts, card base, image....etc......

Here's the count down for mine to prove that I only used 8 pieces.

1. Card base (kraft)
2. black (h-shaped) layer {you can't see the middle of the "h" under the layers}
3. red layer
4. another black layer
5. Square image layer
6. popped up section of image
7. ribbon
8. brad

Yes, I doctored the image a little.... the blood droplets were not part of the original image.  They just kinda fell out of the end of my pencil.

Go on and give it a try.....not as easy as you think.....but oh soooo much fun!!!!

It's gonna be a JB Christmas....

I hope most of you recognize the cute face on this card.  I will be giving this card to my 11 yrs old daughter for Christmas.  For those of you that have lived under a rock for the past few years; this is Justin Bieber.  Harlee has full blown Bieber Fever.  I found this cute image on the net and couldn't resist myself.  One of her pressies is to go to his concert on Dec. 23rd. She will be soooooo over the top with this one. Yes, I will be accompaning her there and screaming right along with her.
This will be a christmas that she will remember for a long, long time.

In the pocket......

I have been making covers for several people and have sold a few. This is an Expression size one that I finished recently. I am always misplacing my tools while I'm working. Or I lay something on top of them and can't see them. Well, no more.....I made a pocket on this jean cover. I bought a large jean skirt from the local thrift store and cut it apart. Worked perfectly.

This one is sized for the baby bug or create machine. I have been sewing for about 30 yrs. so I have a lot of extra fabric left-over from other projects. It doesn't take a lot of fabric to make a cover for either size machine. I made the flower using a die and the Big Shot and hot glued into place. Sewed on the ruffle to cover the seam where I have to piece the fabric together. All in all I think they turned out pretty cute. I have others that I made you can see below.

Until later, polly pockets.........Gotta split........TFL!
