Stamping while driving.....LOL

Now that I have your attention...no I wasnt actually stamping while I was driving, but I was thinking about stamping while I was driving.... Scary huh???? Bwahahahahahaha. When I drop Jeff off at the airport its a 45 mins. drive back by myself and its pretty quiet in the car, well except for the voices in my head.....bwahahaha. Well, yesterday wasnt any different. I was envisioning my oval punch and making a large flower with it and it came to me.
But I will let the 'voices' give you a little tutorial on what came to me...............bwahahahaha!

First I found a marker (I don't have any SU markers,
YET!) <----yet...LOL....

Anyway, I sorta clamped the paper in the punch without actually punching it out, just enough pressure to hold it into place.

Then I using the marker and traced a line on the inside of the punch to make the paper punch 'stand-out' after it was punched.

Then I punched out the oval/petal. Pretty clever huh? This can apply to so many punches and you can use any color under the rainbow to trace.

Then, I sorta curled the petal and bent one end that was to go under the center so they would have some flat area to apply the adhesive (once I put center on it would be hidden anyway). then I stamped and punched out the center and applied it to my card (seen above).

I made my background paper using some of the other stamps from the "Priceless" set from Stampin' Up! .

Below you will see another card I made using the same technique.... It was so much fun I couldnt stop....bwahahahahahaha.

Have fun with this technique and remember to give moi some credit for this fun little idea.

Do you 'carrot' at all?????

I found this cute carrot stamp at Michael's dollar spot and just had to have it... Of course the first card that I made with it was an easter card. I can just see the happy bunny that gets this card....bwahahahaha. The card layout was for a challenge (its over now) and I thought it was pretty cute. Love the colors..... This will be a quick post today as I have a lot to get done, cleaning, shopping for cleets (for Harlee) and ball practice later this afternoon. Until later....Stamp 'til ya Cramp and Crop 'til ya drop!!!!! TFL

Friends...young and old....

I had a surprise visit from some of my family yesterday.... If any of them are reading this....OMGoodness how I love you all !!!

It was from my mommas side of the family. I haven't seen them in so long. They were asking about me and my family and both my uncles were surprised to learn that I am a grandmother now.....wow me too, bwahahahahaha. My Uncle Bruce said that he still saw me as a little young'un. Funny, 'cause I was making this card for a challenge when they pulled into the driveway and thought how appropriate. Well, first let me tell you how I looked...hahahahaha... I was wearing an old pair of sweats and my hair had not been combed and no makeup, boy was I a sight. The house was a little messy too....ouch!!! But they are family right.....so they will (hopefully) overlook that.
Ok, now to the card....enough of my nostalgia.
I found this stamp at Big Lots and thought it would make a great image since I am a substitute teacher. I love the little kids...all they really want is love and attention. The "friend" stamp if from a level 2 hostess gift, its called "A Little Somethin' ". I used very vanilla, dsp, and a 3-d flower accent (that I purchased for my scrapbooking), and chocolate chip craft ink. Until later...and maybe no surprise visitors (but I'm very glad they did)....TFL

24-7 Girl

This card was inspired by the Hanna challenge on SCS. There's a new challenge every week, this week was an inspiration from the pic shown here. I chose only to do Hann'a bottom half, I love the hi-tops she's wearing. Even though she's dressing down, she's still showing her girly side with those 'blingy' sneeks. She kinda reminds me of ME! I would love a pair of those...wouldn't you?? I'm such a shoe diva...bwahahahahahaha.
Card deets: Again, I colored the image using my color pencils, spirits and a stump. I can get such a realistic look with them (hard to tell, pic is a little blurry, hard to get a good shot with it raining). My painter side is sneeking out a bit....tee hee. The DSP is great with the geometric design so I wanted to carry out that theme.... with the clip and the fiskars border punch.
Until later.....I hope everyone has a great weekend and not as wet as ours is going to be.....LOL TFL

Funky chicken tutorial....

...no not the dance silly, although I do recall doing that dance in my younger days...shhhh, don't tell anyone....bwahahahaha. Actually, its a pic tutorial on coloring images using color pencils, odorless mineral spirits and a stump. This is my first tutorial of any kind, so bear with me.... You can click on any of the pics to enlarge them for better viewing.... Hope you learn a little sumpin' sumpin'...

This is the supplies I used: Koh-l-noor color pencils, Masterpiece odorless mineral spirits, and paper stumps....all purchased at Hobby Lobby, using a two 40% coupons on two separate days ....{SCORE}Teehee. I chose the woodless pencils, I figure I get more bang for my buck that way.

I stamped my image using Black Stazon ink... and poured very little of the spirits (doesn't take much) in a plastic container and I have dedicated this container just for this. I forgot to mention that you will need a nail file to file off the stump when changing colors.

I only add color to the shadow areas normally an blend from where I want the darkest and then to the lightest area to get the base color that I want.

Then dip just the tip of your stump into the spirits. It takes very little...you just want it damp, not dripping.
You will know when to re-dip when you hear a slight squeaking sound, you want it to glide on the paper rather than scrub.

I continue to add more color and shadow colors where I think they need to be.

Filing the color off the end of the stump. Just remember to file at an angle so you don't lose the sharp point.

Still adding more color. WOW this is one Funky Chicken....bwahahahahaha.
I wonder what color eggs this one lays???

The chicken in her finest feathers..... I added grass and some blue for a little sky, as if she needed any more dressing up.

And finally the finished card.... wow that wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. But, I could show you so much more if I had a video camera...hmmmmmm {note to self...Mother's Day is coming.... hahahaha}

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them in the comments section below.
Until later....TFL

Thinking....hmmmmm

I wanted to use the MS butterfly punches today...I think they are simply beautiful. I bought them a while back and have only used them a couple of times, but it was one of those gotta have things... tee hee. Very simple card today as I'm kinda blue...I didn't get picked for a DT that I was trying for....oh well, maybe next time. I am thinking about post a few tutorials but it will have to be pictures 'cause I don't have a video camera. I was telling others how I easy I found the color pencils to be; using the spirits and stump. A few wanted more details, maybe I will try that later today.....{biting my nails, now they won't look good on camera....bwahahahahahah}. Until later....TFL

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

I recently purchased a new set of color pencils (Koh-l-noor) and I have been coloring everything in sight. Its my new fab way to color images, the colors turn out vibrant and its super easy, and blending is a breeze. I use odorless mineral spirits and a stump. My daughter (who's 9) really likes it too, her blending needs a little work, but I think that has to do with her patience level too. She's like spit on a skillet....she's so hyper. And she would rather be outside looking for bugs anyway, bwahahahahahahaha. She's such a "tomgirl", yeah I know the right word is tomboy, but she doesnt like that, she says she's a TOMGIRL, so I guess there's a little of the girl trying to sneek out of her yet.... bwahahahahahaha. Ok, back to the card....the images are from Starving Artists stamps. I colored the hair red to look like my g-daughters. I tend to color everything blonde like myself, I have to get out doing that all the time. I used a fiskars border punch on the top and the tag punch is from Creative Memories... I love there punches, heck, I love punches period!!!!! I would rather spend money on punches and stamp sets than anything else. Until later....TFL

Wanna cuppa...JOE???

I can just hear the monkey saying "HI, I'm Joe"..... bwahahahahahaha !!! {*wink*} I wanted to create a card for the potluck challenge on StampTV....it was to make a card utilizing something from your kitchen. Bounce on over there and give it a try for yourself, you will have blast. Well I went scrounging around in the kithcen, like I was on a treasure hunt and I found toothpicks, "nah...to hard to glue down"....then I found peppercorns.... "nah, might make me sneeze", then I found a coffee filter and it reminded me that I have a bag of coffee beans that were given to me as a gift (which I have almost used up) and it hit me, no not the bag of beans, the idea to make a shaker card using the coffee beans. So I went to work making the card, and the sentiment was a little tricky...., but I think it turned out OK. I used my square scallop punch to make the corners and again I love that white gel pen.... and the new oval scallop punch. I colored the image using my color pencils, gamsol and stump.... I think that is my new fav way to color stamped images. Until tomorrow...TFL

Morning Glories....

and a bowling pin???? What do these things have in common?? Not much ordinarily, but if any of my bowling league members are reading this they will totally get it. HA!
I bowl on a league every Tuesday morning and the league name is Morning Glories, and my team name is Wild Orchids. We always try to come up with something for the league secretary every year. She works extra hard at keeping scores, paperwork, monies, and us ladies on an even keel. I personally would not want the job. So, I created this piece to have all the ladies sign and I'm going to frame it and give it to Janice to show her a little appreciation for what she does for us. It measures approx. 9"x 11" so I think they all can get their John Hancock's on there. I did it using color pencils, odorless mineral spirits and a stump. It was easier than I thought. Turned out very pretty, if I do say so myself. Now, whether she likes it or not is a different story...we shall see!!! I'll be back again tomorrow with another card, or maybe something else, but you will just have to come back to see...now want ya!!!! Until tomorrow...TFL

30 isn't so bad....

That was what I wrote inside the card...my oldest turned 30 yrs old recently....OUCH!!! How old does that make me???? I have 4 children and their ages this year will be...30, 28, 26 and 10, yep you read it right...bwahahahahahaha. I was 18 when I had my first and 38 when I had the last. By the time Harlee has graduated from school, I will have been raising kids (kids living in the house with us) for 40 yrs. WOW...scary huh???? I was explaining that to my older children, because they want me to babysit the grands once in a while, and I dont mind to watch them once in a while. But I cant do it on a regular basis. I'm so over diapers, bottles, waking in the middle of the night...etc...... Does that make me sound bad??? I hope not, I think it just makes me sound TIRED....bwahahahahahahaha. Dont get me wrong I love them with every breath I have in me, and I would walk in front of a bullet for each and every one, but I'm tired now......LOL.
Ok, back to the card.... I loved this dsp, you see my oldest daughter is married to a rocker of sorts...he's in a band and they are very good. The band name is "Stand Alone", you can google them I think. You may want to check them out....anyway back to the card again. I had these metal tags and I thought it looked very "band-ish", is that a word? bwahahahahahahaha. It needed a little something after it was all put together, so I took a chance and serged down both sides of the card and i think it turned out pretty kewl. A kewl card for a kewl chick. Kewl...do they even say that anymore???
Oh well, until tomorrow.....TFL

You can never have too many !!!

The title of this post is actually what is stamped on the inside of this card. I have met some amazing friends, yes friends over on facebook (facebook me) and this card was made for a scrap swap... I made 9 cards, each a little different than the other. I started out getting some scraps from my scrap file and then I cut them into smaller pieces to work with. I wanted the card to remain flat for mailing so I thought that I would paper piece a heart, because isnt that what makes a friend anyway... Its not like family where sometimes you feel obligated to like/love them....bwahahahahaha. Friends are someone that you meet and have a feeling for (heart). So, thats why I pieced the heart 'cause we have friendships with so many people and each one adds a little something to the mix...right??? After piecing the heart together it needed more uummmph, so i simply sewed a red heart onto the pieces. It still looked a little bland, so I used my faithful old sharpie and drew squiggles and dots around the border of the card. I think it turned out pretty suhweet. Hope the others like them. Off to mail my cards.... Until tomorrow....TFL

Best wishes....

I really wasnt in the creative mood yesterday and this card really shows it. It seemed everything that I picked up just wasnt right. I have this really old dictionary and wanted to incorporate it into the card somehow, but I think I should have went with a different color scheme. It looks kinda washed out on here, it looks a little better IRL, but not much. It was just one of those days I guess. It will be better tomorrow, I promise.

I will be super busy this weekend trying to catch up on making a lot of cards, I have a swap that I have to make 10 cards for, I have to finish up 3 small scrapbooks for my bowling team, I'm going to a crop on friday night so I need to get all my supplies gathered for that, I gotta take Jeff to the airport today and pick him up sunday, Harlee has softball practice tonight... and the league secretary asked me the other day if I would consider making some treats for the bowling alley, they would pay me for that though.

WHewwwwwww....made me tired just typing it all down. Bwahahahahahaha !!!!! I guess I better get my creative cap on and buckle myself into my creative chair and start knocking out some great stuff, or at least passable to my standards....which are pretty HIGH.
Until tomorrow.....TFL

A little something for YOU!!!

There is a color challenge each monday at StampTV. I wanted to use my new stamp set (Yummy) from SU and the first thing I thought of when I got these colors together was a baby. I couldnt wrap my head around any other theme, so here it is. Even though I presently don't know any one that is having/or planning on having a baby any time soon. It was still so much fun to put together. The idea for the baby came to me while I was driving home from bowling yesterday, yeah....there are so many things that I should be thinking about while driving....bwahahahahahaha

Deets: I was thinking about the punches that I had and the color bashful blush always looks like skin to me, so the 1-1/4" circle is the head and a regular paper punch is the nose. I knew I wanted the barely banana cs to be the bonnet on her head, so I used my scallop punch for it. I used some ink to sponge around the edges and after gluing them together I added a face with a sharpie and highlights with a white gel pen. The green is certainly celery cs and some additional dsp that I found that matched the barely banana perfectly. The wording and corner details are from the Yummy set and 'baby' is from a set that I have had for awhile. The border punch is from Fiskars, it needed a 'little something' to finish the look....bwahahahaha...get it....'little something' .... ok never mind
Until tomorrow.......TFL

Delighted......

that you have found my blog..... this one is a challenge card for yesterday on SCS. Its to try a new technique ( a ribbon frame) and I love the way it turned out. Isn't it very pretty, you can make a very ordinary card seem extra-ordinary with just a little ribbon. The stamp set that I used is a older one from SU called paint prints. I didnt have a pink that really matched well, so this is the result of first stamping the image on scrap first to remove some of the ink and then stamping your image, makes for a lighter image. Again, I used the ovals from SU, I just love them.
Ok, now I have a little gripe...NO, not with you..... its regarding my other half. Do any other stampers experience this? I can be upstairs all day, just doing my thing around the house and not a word from Jeff (he's working from home and taking college courses too) so he is in front of the computer 24-7. But....the minute I go down stairs to my studio, he starts hollering for me. Its like he has radar or maybe one of the stair steps is rigged (note to self: check steps tomorrow). So, then after about the 2nd or 3rd time I get beckoned I hurry to get done so my creation looks like Dr, Frankenstein had a hand in creating it. Today for instance, I made two other cards before I finally decided to post the one above. Well, I guess it could be worse... hmmmm... SO, Happy St. Patty's day to ya, Erin go bragh!!!!!! TFL

Feeling Lucky?????

A day early....but its all good!!! This one I made for Jeff (my sweetie). Very simple card and Hanna can be dressed in sooooooo many ways. This outfit looks sweet and demure on the outside, but who knows what she's hiding underneath. Maybe Jeff will get lucky enough to find out...bwahahahahaha. He has been concentrating so hard on his "book learnin' " (he's taking more college courses) that he barely has time for me anymore.... maybe this will give him a little nudge. I doubt it, but its worth a try. If not, then you guy are the lucky ones 'cause that means I have more time to create...which means more cards and sch-tuff.
Ok, here goes with the deets:
Of course, you know the Hanna stamps, if not then under what clover patch have you been hiding, bwahahahahaha. I made the clover using a small heart punch and the stem is some cording that I bought around Christmas. The ovals are from Stampin' Up! The large oval and check out the new scallop, way cool.... I just love punches!!!! Ok, until tomorrow, maybe it will be something besides Hanna or then again, maybe not. You will have to come back to see....ha!

PLAY BALL!!!!

I just had to have this set from Hanna too.... have I told you how much I love her line of stamps.... Harlee is playing softball again this spring and I'm one of those parents that get way too involved. Don't worry, I'm not a stage Mom, as they say, I don't yell negative things at all - I'm always encouraging her and the other girls and giving them pointers.... after all its still just a game and it really doesnt matter to me if they win or lose, I just want her to put in 110% when she's out there.

Well, anyway, lets get back to the card.... I digress.... I purchased this set because I'm always making things for the girls on the team and this on fits the bill perfectly. {bill-hat...get it....I made a funny...bwahahahaha} There is a lot of things out there for little boys pertaining to ball but not for little girls. I will be making more things using this set, I just had to ink it up yesterday and make this quick card. I colored it using my watercolor pencils and blender pen, I love to color; it reminds me of when I was a kid and got that brand new box of crayon. Did you ever open the box to check and make sure the tips weren't broken off before you bought them. I remember one time, I'm not sure how old I was...Momma let me buy a new box and I 'checked' them and they were perfect, well somewhere along the way from the store to home; a few of the tips got broken. I dont mean just a little part of the tip the whole cone shaped part. I was so disappointed when I opened the box. Funny how you remember silly little things like that. Anyway, it took me a few days before I would actually color with those crayons. I'm a little OCD, ya think??? bwahahahahaha Wow, I have really dragged on ....until tomorrow......TFL

Howwwwwwdy...y'all !!!

First off let me tell you how much I wanted to be Ellie Mae Clampett....I watched that show (Beverly Hillbillies) everytime it was on, and I still catch a rerun when I can, teehee. I wanted to be her so much that I even got a bloodhound. I didn't want any 'ol bloodhound it had to look just like Duke from the show. I loved that dog, her name was Peaches, beautiful animal.... Notice I said 'loved' (past tense), I hope she's still with us, but I don't know for sure, she was stolen out of our yard. Yep, STOLEN!!! That was many years ago and I didnt have the heart to try and replace her with another bloodhound. We have another dog now, his name is Booboo; he's a great dog too, he's getting on up in years and he's just a sweetie.
Ok, now to the important sch-tuff, the card deets:
Card base is a rust colored cardstock, and then I used grass looking dsp and cut the edge with my paper shaper scissors to resemble grass. Then I made a faux wood fence by first using mustard color cs and rubbing white ink pad across it, and then a brown and finally I drew the black lines in with my sharpie, Oh I cut out the knot hole and cut the points with my scissors.....You can't have an old fence without a knot hole can ya? I dressed Hanna (after altering the dress with my sharpie), she kinda looks like Daisy Mae from L'il Abner bwahahahahaha. I used twine for her belt and for Peaches' collar and added the silver diamond stud for her bling. Oh, I almost forgot the sky, I punched a scallop circle out and used it to mask off the clouds (made with ballet blue ink and a sponge) and then I highlighted them using my white gel pen. And last but not least I added 3 green giggle dots. Hope you like it, I had way too much fun making it..... until tomorrow...TFL

winner, winner, chicken dinner......

Ok, my bowling season is coming to an end....after 30 some odd weeks. I love to bowl but when spring and summer are here, I would rather be outside doing something. So, I'm kinda glad that it is coming to an end. This is one of the cards I made for one of my team members. It is so appropriate to have the 1st place trophy, 'cause we are on the way to being the numero uno team....yippeeeeeee!!!! We have been in first place for many, many weeks now all we need to do is maintain for the last few...keeping my fingers crossed. I love the retro feel of this card, everytime I think of bowling, I think retro. The shirts, shoes, not much has changed as far as the clothing and the appearance of the lanes. Even the brand new lanes that open still have a very retro feel, its just one of those things I guess.

Card Deets: This is the Bowling Hanna set again, but this time I left off Hanna, I used just her accessories. I glittered the trophy to make it stand out a little more, but all in all a pretty basic card with basic layering.

OHH, did you notice the ovals....they are from Stampin' Up! the small oval punch has been around a while, but the scallop oval in brand spankin' new and you can get it next month....makes a great accent for your projects. It was a must have for me. If you need to place an order, feel free to contact me or check on my right side bar (over there)------>>
for the shop icon and it will take you directly to my site. You can order and your products will be shipped directly to you!!! The Sale-a-bration is still going on till the end of March, choose great stuff out of the sale-a-bration catalog, one item for every $50 (before S/H) that you spend....dont want to miss out!!!!

Rat-a-petite...

This card was made from many stamp sets combined, Kit the Kat from Our Craft Lounge, The wording is from Scrappy cat/Stamp Affects Prod. and the trash can is from ....I dont know where I got it...
I think she is ready for dinner out, she's got on her shades so the paparazzi doesnt recognize her as she partakes in a sumptious meal...bwahahahahahaha. I said it was a she because did you know that only 1 out of every 3000 calico cats is a male.... now you've learned something new today. I'm always finding little pieces of tidbits of knowledge that are very useless to me, but for some strange reason I find it interesting. Go figure!!!
Ok, back to the card, I used silver embossing on the trash can to dress it up a bit, well you don't think Ms. Kit would go to just any 'ol can now do ya....LOL. Well, that's pretty much it for today, you've gotten smarter and maybe a little more artsy fartsy from viewing this sch...tuff. So, until later....TFL
