About Me

My photo
I would classify myself as an artist. It took me a while to finally accept that monicker, but that's what I am; AN ARTIST!!! I have a wonderful hubs that supports my "talents" in most all avenues, except maybe when the credit card bill comes in the mail...LOL And I have 4 great kids and 5 beautiful grandchildren that I love to pieces. Come on by and sit a spell and "STAMP 'TIL YA CRAMP!!! & "CROP 'TIL YA DROP!!!"

I think I have found my calling.....

All my life I have been involved in art in some form or fashion.... As soon as my parents saw that little twinkling of talent they always encouraged me. I was always getting paints, color pencils, pastels, palettes, markers, etc....... and others noticed that I had some kind of natural talent, so it was always in my life. I was in first grade and the teacher was calling on us to go to the chalkboard to draw the shapes as she called them out. Well, she got to me and I was to draw a circle..... the teacher noticed how round it was and got something to compare it to and see just how round it was. To her amazement it was almost perfect (her words, not mine) I was just excited to get to write on the board. I remember it like it was yesterday, she praised me and had other teachers to come in and look at it, and to prove it wasnt just a fluke that I happened to get lucky, she had me draw it several more times. Always with the same results. I think that was the beginning of my 'art career'. I have loved it from the beginning, any and all of it. As I got older I pursued jobs that involved art in some way....at 16 I worked at Six Flags doing pastel portraits, and then I did sandpainting during the Christmas holidays. Then I had to find better paying jobs, I just don't do the starving artist routine well....bwahahahahahahaha. Marriage, kids, jobs, they all seemed to take priority'as they should have... Now, I have time to do what I want to do, thanks to Jeff (my sweetheart). So, as I sit here and type away he's sitting in a hotel room in Texas missing his family as we are missing him....

The reason for this story is this. I received a package on Monday and you can see in the picture that it was a box loaded to the hilt. I got an email last week from the owner of Stamp N plus Scrap N (<-------chec it out)and she said that she liked my work and wanted me on her DT... I, of course, said yes and she asked me what stamp set I wanted and did I want some powdered chalks to try. Well, you know what my response to that was.....bwahahahahahahaha.

Well this is what arrived in the mail, I was totally shocked and emailed her to THANK her and tell her that she was way to generous, but I would not disappoint her.
Now to the first card I made using the items she sent me. Her company has loads of great stuff for you to buy. The chalks she sent were used to make the rainbow background, super super easy. You use very little and it spreads amazingly well, just using a cotton ball. Then I stamped the peace sign on top of the background using my versamark pad and then used a dark grey chalk to highlight them. You can't see it in the picture but there is a glitter to the background paper too, using the stardust powdered chalk. The wording is embossed, its really shiny IRL.

I'm so excited to get to play with all the new stuff. So, that is why I say I think I have found my calling..... this is the most I have ever gotten rewarded for any art that I have ever done. I have painted murals, portraits, caricatures, etc.... Everyone always says that I need to open a shop or something, I could probably make a lot of money...LOL Well, that has never happened but I guess there is still time...I'm a young 48, there's still a lot years left in this old gal.....bwahahahahahaha
But for now...I'M HAVING A BLAST and I have met some amazing wonderfully talented people along the way!!!!

Until later, fellow ARTISTS.......Gotta split....TFL !!!!

Oh Crystal! You didn't need to tell ME that, it was obvious from the first time that I saw your work that you have a special talent that is so amazing. Your attention to details are incredible, I can tell that you put 100% effort into every card that you design. That is so worth picking you up for EVERY DT out there! I'll have to say that the company that snagged you is soooo fortunate. She will never be disappointed with your contributions as everything you touch turns to Crystal! ;)A huge congrats Sugar!!

It's no suprise that you were asked to be part of another DT. I know if I had a company I would be knocking down your door too lol. Crystal your work is really amazing. From the first card I saw I knew you had serious mad talents, especially with your coloring skills. You see things and express them on paper so well, many of us just don't have this skill no matter how hard we try. It's obvious you're a natural. Congrats on the new team :)

So glad to see that you're having fun with what you do. That's so important to not let it turn into a chore. I have some of those powdered chalks and don't use them much, but you're inspiring me to get them out!
