About Me

My photo
I would classify myself as an artist. It took me a while to finally accept that monicker, but that's what I am; AN ARTIST!!! I have a wonderful hubs that supports my "talents" in most all avenues, except maybe when the credit card bill comes in the mail...LOL And I have 4 great kids and 5 beautiful grandchildren that I love to pieces. Come on by and sit a spell and "STAMP 'TIL YA CRAMP!!! & "CROP 'TIL YA DROP!!!"

My Studio......

My studio is my sanctuary..... I love going down there (its in the basement) and spending the day.
My sister calls it the "laboratory" and my hubs calls it the "money pit".....Bwahahahahahahaha!!!

My entire studio measures approx. 12 feet by 34 feet.

Welcome to my studio!!!!!

I've posted some pics below with a little description of each..... and I'm going to show you......
You don't have to spend a fortune to have a great crafting space.....

This rack was purchased at a local thrift shop...it was originally a free standing magazine rack, the kind you might find at a doctor's office.  I paid $4.00 for it. My 8-1/2" X 11" cardstock fits it in nicely.

Of course these are from the craft store, but they were both purchased using 40% off coupons.  I have my papers sorted by colors on the rack to the left and the one on the right by theme.

This a closet organizer...... I used to have this in my laundry room holding our laundry supplies. We had our laundry room re-done so I use it now for some of my punches.

This rack I made myself using 1" x 4" pieces of lumber..... a few nails and a little paint and I have the perfect rack to store stamps and more punches.
Less than $10 to make.

These 2 pieces of peg board were freebies, and I store odds and ends and ribbons for easy access.

On the other end of my studio I have a painting area.  These racks were purchased several years ago from Wal-mart.  They were re-arranging their craft area and I asked the manager if I could have/purchase them.....  He said sure.... I asked how much and he said a quarter each......LOL, REALLY????... That's all I paid.

This sign I found behind my hubs workshop, it was covered in dirt and I was just curious to what it said.... I sprayed it off and saw it was a sign advertising tires (4/49.95).  Tells you how old it really is....LOL
I noticed it had holes in the corner for easy hanging and (the light went off) I knew I had my embellishments in those metal favor tins with the clear plastic tops, but they were in a box and I had to search thru them anytime I wanted to find anything. I grabbed my strip of magnetic tape and adhered a piece to the back of each one and this is the result...... I can see at a glance anything I need.

Until later, studio dwellers.......Gotta split.....TFL!!!!!!

So often I see peoples craft rooms and they have obviously spent a FORTUNE on storage!! What a waste of money, money that could be spent on craft supplies for heavens sake. You are definately my type of crafter why buy something when you can get it for free (or near enough), alot of crafting is about reusing materials, being "crafty" so more people shoud apply this to their storage as well.. You have a wonderful craft room and are an example to us all, well done.
Hugs
Pene

Very nice! I'm in the basement too... pegboards are great for storing stuff. I save jars from nuts and things, very handy for storing ribbons, flowers, etc. {once cleaned out well} - love to recycle stuff :)

Awesome ideas Crystal. SOOOOO nice. Some time please show us a photo of your whole room. I am thinking of moving my space in the basement and am at a loss as to how to arrange it. It is long and narrow too. Thanks

I love all your storage items. I also like what Pene said about using your money on materials instead of storage. I needed to hear that because I've been thinking about buying some big ticket storage items. Now I'm able to back down from that idea.
