About Me

My photo
I would classify myself as an artist. It took me a while to finally accept that monicker, but that's what I am; AN ARTIST!!! I have a wonderful hubs that supports my "talents" in most all avenues, except maybe when the credit card bill comes in the mail...LOL And I have 4 great kids and 5 beautiful grandchildren that I love to pieces. Come on by and sit a spell and "STAMP 'TIL YA CRAMP!!! & "CROP 'TIL YA DROP!!!"

Sweet Angel.....

Wow...this was fun. I never made a monochromatic card before, and I think it turned out pretty fab; if I do say so myself. It was inspired from a blog and actually it two challenges in one, the first one was, again, to make it monochromatic and the second challenge (from another blog) was to use pearls. Well, I think I combined them both p r e t t y w e l l ....sorry hard to type with one hand the other hand was patting myself on the back...bwahahahahaha.
Card deets: I used the following items...
Tan cs, very vanilla cs, OOOLD wallpaper piece is behind the angel, and the angel itself is from a OOLLDD wallpaper border, victorian corner punch, MS butterfly punches, MS glitter on fold down corner, mini alpha stamps, and of course the stick-on pearls.

I have to tell you what happened yesterday....I was just finishing typing my blog entry when we had a storm to roll thru and before I could get the computer turned off a bolt of lightening and a clap of thunder at the same time (and you know that means is on top of you) hit and knocked out my computer and I saw sparks.... Shaved about a year off my life I tell ya..... I had just taken my hands off the keyboard, good thing 'cause no telling what would have happened if I hadn't. Well, it knocked out the phone line, DSL modem, my computer (which is now in shop...keeping my fingers crossed that its salvageable) so I'm using my daughters computer now. The phone line has since been repaired and the repair guy is letting me use a modem until our new one arrives so I will still be posting and trying to keep you up to date on all the action around here....
Snow is on the horizon for tomorrow, which I'm not sure will happen 'cause right now the sun is shining and its rather pleasant now.... we'll see.... TFL

You're TREE-men-dous!!!!

Yes, I think that everyone that reads my blog is tree-men-dous...LOL. This is another color/supply challenge. It was B-B-B, blue, buttons and brown. I didnt 'leaf' anything off. I 'blue' this one out of the water!! bwahahahahahah!!!!!!!! Ok, OK, I get carried away. I better get back a'brown' to the deets of the card.....

I used craft chocolate chip ink for the tree image (and the sentiment also) which is from the "Season of Friendship" set from SU! Buttons and twine which are all on a base of bashful blue and chocolate chip cs. Then, I used my paper piercer around the sides. TFL

DUCK!!!!!

No..not you, him. "Gene" I like to call him, he really reminds me of Gene Kelly, don't ya love that movie..."Singing in the rain" Thats what Gene is doing here.....can't ya just hear him. He even has his wing out like he is hitting a high note, bwahahahahahaha. This is another image that I got with my blog candy...thanks Broni... I didn't add a sentiment to the card yet, still haven't decided what I want it to say...maybe it doesn't need one at all... Deets: I used my watercolor pencils and blender pens to color Gene and highlighted him using my white gel pen, and used old olive cs, tempting turquoise cs, dsp, ribbon and a couple of primas, oh and do you see the dew drops. Those are the ones that I made using my hot glue gun. I used a sharpie marker on the bottom of the clear drop before adding it to the card, pretty cool huh??? That way you can have them to match any color you want. Well, I gotta go, I'm going shopping today... I hear that Tuesday Morning has punches on sale.... You want me to pick you up a few??? LOL TFL

Two treats for you today....

Yep...two treats... You get two cards for the low, low price of one click. (Notice I posted twice today!)
The card above is for the "Color Throwdown" blog (http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/) . I normally dont do color challenges, because I may not be in that "color" mood that day. But today was different, I love the combo for today. The colors are: As soon as I saw the night of navy I thought of a night sky. I had this tent image from 'Doodle Factory" that I thought would go well with the color scheme. I punched the stars with a hand-held punch, notice on the left side of the sky I even punched the "big dipper" constellation, pretty smart huh? The sign is from "Studio G", dollar stamps from Michaels. The large sticker (explore) is from my stash. I colored the tent using my watercolor pencils , and I distressed the edges of the cardstock. I used a pair of my shaped scissors for the grass and I used a sponge to add ink around the edges as well. TFL

Busted.....

I'm busted...for loving these new Hanna stamps...bwahahahahahaha
I have several close family members that are police officers and I think they will get a kick outta this, and yes 1 of them is a female. She will laugh her head off. I'm giving her this card friday night at a scrapbboking crop she is having at her house. So you know who you are and if you are reading this...STOP IN THE NAME OF ....bwahahahahaha.....
I kill myself sometimes.... Hope you enjoy my comedy...my other half thinks I'm insane most of the time. But I'm fun to be around!!!!
Card deets:
Pretty simple layput really....I used my cutter from creative memories to create the diamond-shaped ovals and I used a metal tag and added teh circles and the sentiment.. The sentiment wouldn't fit the circle the way it was, so I cut all the words apart(very carefully) before using them. TFL

Dream it...

believe it...BE it! Close up of Pea-nut...

You know when you were little and your parents always said that you can be anything you wanted to be. Well, Pea-nut sure is believing it!!!! I adore this image, Broni sent it to me along with my blog winnings (stamp set). I couldnt wait to get my hot little hands on my watercolor pencils and color her in. She has a very demure look about her....like shes admiring herself and she likes what she sees. You go girl!!!!
Deets on the card: After watercoloring her in, I had to find pink dsp to match the inside of her ears (both sets...bwahahahahaha). then I was a little nervous 'cause I didnt think I had any grey that would match, but good old Stampin' Up! has basic grey that matched perfect for the card base. Then I looked thru my stash and found some handmade paper that I bought at Tuesday Morning that has a shimmer and grey embosssed flowers, hard to tell how shimmery it really is. And whats a girl without a little 'bling'...the glitter buttons (I call them). I glued them on using my tombow glue. I don't think that this card will ever leave my studio....its going to take front and center on my shelf and stay there for awhile. I'm in love with this card...dont really know why, but I am. Hint for tomorrows post.....another Hanna!!!! TFL

It's all about the SHOES...

You may not know but I love SHOES!!! Shoes can make or break an outfit. Well, thats my story and I'm sticking to it. I have approx. (at last count) 75 prs., excessive, I think not!!! bwahahahahaha.... Now, getting back to the card, the sentiment inside the card reads just like the title of this post. Her (Hanna) wink and expression says it all; I can just hear her saying "Bowling...it's all about the SHOES!!!" bwahahahahaha. Even MY bowling shoes have 'bling' on them. They are white with 'silver stripes' sorta like the old Nike tennis shoe design. Deets of this card: This is a new stamp set from Hanna stamps, love it, I have been on a mad search for some rubber stamps that have a bowling theme, no go, well until NOW. I clear embossed the shoes and the bowling ball, I attached the ball to a button before attaching the whole thing to some string that is actually some christmas embellishment. I computer generated the wording(font=airconditioner). Sorry, I didnt take a pic of the inside where the rest of the sentiment is located, but the font is the same, I love the retro feel of it. OH, I almost forgot... I used a tag punch from Creative Memories to punch out Hanna, I punched it once and then I re-inserted just the bottom of the piece back into the punch to get the same effect as the top. Cool huh? My blog candy WIN!!!!

This is the first card I made using my blog candy winnings.....Thanks to Our Craft Lounge and all the ladies that held the blog candy contest. Broni Holcombe, her blog "Splashes of Watercolor" is where I posted to enter the blog candy giveaway... Wait, wait, wait...stay here and finish reading my blog, 'cause the contest has ended, sorry you missed it.
I have to confess, I really dont have an infinity for cats in any way, shape or form. I think cats are one of those type of pets that you can't be on the fence about, you either LOVE them or DISLIKE them. I am the latter... I guess 'cause we always had dogs growing up, I can't ever recall a cat even coming in our yard....well, I think the dogs had a little something to do with that. But anyway, my dislike (sorry) for cats didnt halt me from loving making this card. I have to say that this is my new fav card... don't worry it will change as soon as I make another card....bwahahahahah
I used my serger again, love it, and I drew in the tongue using a sharpie 'cause that look on her face just says full satisfaction to me..... The sentiment was printed from my computer, (bearpaw=font) and I remembered that I had these clips in the shape of a bone. And I just couldn't resist adding a little 'bling' hanging from her collar, every girl needs 'bling'; even if they are a cat. TFL

My studio....

I'm always saying I'm working in my studio, well today you get to see it.... I havent had time to make a card today, we had family day. Everyone wanted to go bowling and now we are playing Mario brothers on the original Nintendo.... yeah, the old school Mario.... too much fun!!!

While the others were playing, I snuck down to take a few pics to share with ya. This is where I sit and create my cards....its actually in our basement. I have everything in stations. This big table is where I usually put everything together at. The smaller table right past it is my embossing/glitter table. To the right are my punches.

This is my sizzix station where all the cards are displayed and you can see my paper rack to the left of that.

This is an old sign that we had, its advertising tires (4 for $49.95...thats how old it is) I hung it on the wall and added magnets to the back of the little tins. Now, I can see what I have at a glance instead of searching thru a basket of tins.

These are my paint racks....though I havent painted in a while.. they are there if I need them. I would show you my paint table, but it is a little messy.
Hope you a littl peek into my little slice of heaven, I could spend days in there and never come up for air...bwahahahahaha!!! TFL

So sew......

I wanted to see if I could use my serger on paper and IT WORKED... lovin' it!!! I will be sewing a lot of cards up now. This was inspired from SCS to use stripes on your card, so the perfect stamp set (well at least I thought) was "Its a stretch" from SU!. I love the long lean lines of that set. It reminds me of stripes, sorta... Well, I have more cards to make, oh I cleaned up my studio yesterday, it was a HUGE mess... Now I think I can get even more creative...bwahahahahaha; well lets hope so anyway. TFL

The Inner Leprechaun....

...and yes I think we all have an inner leprechaun in us...a little mischievous, always searching for that pot of gold..... Yes, I'm Irish on my mothers side....my maternal g-mother was full-blooded Irish, she had the red hair and she was fiery. I was a little scared of her growing up. I remember this tall lanky woman always wearing an apron looking down at me. But, I believe she is where I get my artistic abilities from. She was always creating something out of nothing. I remember her rolling colorful pages out of magazines into tiny, long tubes and then gluing them vertically onto empty coffee cans and she used them for flower pots or what-not holders. She loved "bling" , I remember a lot of her creations being sprayed with GOLD spray paint. Wow, I'm more like her than I thought.....bwahahahahaha.....

OK, now back to present day...I made these for my bowling league. I love to make things for the holidays and we always have a covered dish brunch every holiday before we commence to bowling. So, this is what I decided to make. I got kinda tickled while I was putting them together using the peppermint patties... St. Patty and peppermint patties, get it....I kill me!!!! bwahahahahahahahaha
The 'bling' on the hat is the faux dew "dew drops" I made, pretty cute, huh? Have to make more of those..... TFL

Suh---weet!!!

This card almost made my teeth hurt. You know that feeling when you bite into a cupcake and all that icing is sitting in the roof of your mouth. Rich, rich, rich....enought to make your mouth turn inside out... LOL
Almost didnt post this one...it didnt turn out quite like I wanted it to. When the concept was in my head it was a gorgeous card, but after 'putting it down on paper' {so to speak......bwahahahahaha} it lost something in the translation.
Probably 'cause I was trying to hurry and get a card done, it was freezing cold in my studio, ya see; my studio is actually my basement and we keep it closed off most of the winter to save on the heat bill and I only turn the gas heater on when I'm working. So, today I decided not to turn it on and boy was I sorry....by the time I finished my card my hands were frozen so I was trying to hurry and I'm not happy with the finshed product. Tomorrow I will turn to heat on and get a lot more done and with better results. TFL

Guess the jelly beans...

...and then hop on over to the blog linked below and enter your guess for some great blog candy...

Yummy Sweet Tea.....

Down here in the south.... we love out iced tea suuhhweet!!! Nothing better on a HOT day than to gulp down a large glass of sweet tea. I guess I'm trying to believe that it is actually warm outside when it isnt. I loved making this card... I love the glass stamp from 'Rubbernecker Stamps'...as soon as I saw it, I knew it was going to be a glass of sweet tea and the lemon slice is from Rubbernecker also. Hard to tell, but it is actually hanging on the glass like it would in 'real life' (I cut a slit in the slice for it to hang over the edge). I clear embossed both the glass and the lemon slice to make them look even more refreshing...can't ya just taste it. Looking back I wish I had stamped it on vellum instead to make it have a translucent appearance to the glass, oh well; maybe next time. I forgot to take a pic of the inside... the inside reads "...its all in how much SUGAR you add!" Pretty cute huh? I thought so.... well back again tomorrow....

Boxed in.....

SCS challenge for today is to make this adorable little box.... super easy to create. While I was down in my studio...I heard little footsteps tiptoeing down the stairs....bwahahahaha. It was Harlee my 9 yrs. old daughter seeing what I was up too.... she looked at me with those green eyes of hers and said "please mommy...can I come down and do something too..." How could I resist. The pink box is the result of her talents, pretty suhweet huh??? After I punched out the hole on top she was looking over my shoulder as I was cutting out the four-leaf clover pieces for my spinner. She had no clue as to where I was going to put them and she said....Mommy wouldnt it be cool to put a dangly piece in the middle of the hole...I just looked up and smiled and told her that was what I was making the clover for... so of course she had to make 'a dangly thing' too...wait theres more, she even set hers up for the photo shoot, adding the candy.. turned out pretty cute, both of them!!!! The BEES Knees....

Just wanted to make a card today using the "Just buzzin' by" set from SU.... I love this set.Its hard to see the background, but I have clouds and sort of a grassy area, I used my pastels to create it....very subtle. I really wanted the flowers to stand out. I love the daffodils, and they are now blooming here in GA. They are my second fav flower...the first being, yep, you guessed it ....DAISIES!!!!The ribbon is a felt ribbon that I acquired recently from Hobby Lobby in the clearance section... I think I got some of every color. It looks very thick but actually it isnt, its quite thin and easy to work with. TFL

I know, I know....this isn't your normal cutesy, pink, red , heart filled valentine... but then again I'm not your normal kinda gal.... I made this one for my sweetie (he's not normal, either... bwahahahahahaha.)...he loves to fish and his fav color is blue, hence the theme. And this is another card for the sketch challenge that the two previous cards were based on also.... actually its a guest designer call. I want to be picked very badly.....it would just make me deliriously happy. So, everyone wish me luck and hope for the best, and I hope everyone has a great, love filled Valentine's Day!!!!! TFL

Don't we all wish we could wear bling like that......I would if I could. LOL A little bling makes any day a little brighter. I will be back with another card tomorrow. TFL

Girl Stuff.....

OK...here's my pitiful attempt at the SCS color challenge for today... I just couldn't wrap my head around these colors. No matter what I did I wasn't happy with the results. So, I enlisted some help....my daughter Harlee. These colors looked very girlie to me, so what better person to help me...right!!!! Though, she is the ultimate "tomboy", but she refers the moniker of "tomgirl". Hopefully tomorrow I can find where I placed my creative juices, 'cause I surely can't find them right now.

Cut it Out!!!!

Now that I have your attention..... here's the Card of the DAY!!!!! bwahahahahaha
Another challenge at SCS, the challenge was to cut it out.... you had to cut out images from the DSP or something else of your choosing. I found some DSP that matched a scrap of Bella Rose (SU) paper perfectly....or close enough...HAHAHA. Also, I have never tried to do a "gate" card before. I think it turned out OK. The wording is from the stamp set called "A Little Somethin' " from SU, its a level 2 hostess set. (So, book a party now so you can get the set for free with the required amount of sales). I adore that new set, so versatile. Well, I have to prepare things for thursday.....I have to teach (20) 4th graders how to create a card, have to cut everything out and get it ready and I only have a 30 min. time slot in order to get the card completed......keep your fingers crossed that I can keep them focused. LOL
Until tomorrow.......TFL
